Common Questions About Matched Betting in Australia
Where do you currently live?
Currently living in Northern Suburbs of Melbourne.
How did you get into matched betting?
I got started with matched betting thanks to friends back in the UK. I was sceptical at first and I remained sporadic with my bets for quite a while.
How long have you been matched betting for now?
I have been doing matched betting on and off for 4-5 years. Over the last 6-8 months I have really focussed on making a minimum of $350 a week. The way I see it if I can pay my rent and bills from a side job, I can then save the majority of my weekly pay from my full time job.
How many hours a day/week/month do you spend matched betting?
Each week I will spend around 5 hours matched betting, the main bulk of which is consumed by the Saturday horse racing offers, around 3 hours.
The other 2 hours I use during the week are divided up between reload offers from the Matched Betting Australia website, checking the bookies websites and placing ‘mug’ bets, which for me is always on football (I’ll begrudgingly include the word ‘soccer’ to avoid confusion).
However I must admit as I work outdoors I often have 10 minutes during the working day and will sneak in a quick look at offers/changing odds etc.
What’s your favourite event to matched bet on?
Favourite event would definitely be the English Premier League.
And which sport or event is most profitable for you?
Most profitable? Horses
Do you plan your matched betting days?
I plan my big match betting days such as Saturday horses.
I will list the 10-15 races that I am likely to MB on, with all relevant detail, then I will filter through and highlight races with under 10 runners, on these I often place multiple bets through different bookies.
How much cash did you start off with?
I started off with around $1500 cash which enabled me to back and lay a number of bets at the same time.
What’s your average monthly profit?
Average profit a month would be between $1500-$2500. I like to set myself a weekly target of $300 which I have hit 95% of the time.
What would you say to anyone thinking of starting matched betting?
Matched betting is a great way to make an income from home. Most weeks my MB money pays my rent and bills which allow me to save for holidays and travel.
Being completely honest I was sceptical at first, but since I got my head around the calculations and started making profits week on week I couldn’t recommend it enough.
Thanks Matt!
We will be doing a few more of these in the coming weeks to help users get a bit more of a general view on matched betting and how it’s possible to make some money.
